Journey is leading each child into a relationship with God through Jesus Christ, and equipping them to become lifelong followers of Christ.

Age Groupings

Nursery
Journey provides a loving, caring and nurturing environment for our little ones. Our focus for this age group is to share God’s love through nurturing, playing and encouraging.

Primary Class (K – 3rd Grade)
In our Kindergarten through Third Grade program, we use United Methodist Sunday School material "One Room Sunday School." The kids begin with a Bible story of the day and then move into a question and answer, discussion centered time. They have weekly activities that reinforce the story through games, crafts and other hands on activities. Our goal is to bring children into a personal relationship with Jesus.

Tweeners (4th grade and up)
Our tweeners experience the Bible through a variety of teaching methods. You may find them participating in a DVD driven curriculum that focuses on growing in their faith, or attention grabbing games that lead to discussion about Biblical truths to live by. Our goal is to build strong faith foundations for our tweeners as they are growing in a world that tempts them and challenges them as never before. 

Upcoming Events:

• HeadQuarters Vacation Bible School, where kids join forces with God! On Sundays August 1, 8, 15, 22, 29, and Sunday, September 12, 5 - 6:30 p.m. Kiddos ages 3 thru 6th will experience a Bible story in a variety of interactive ways and explore how to be heroes for God. While the kids are at VBS, their parents can attend Dr. Kevin Leman's "Have a New Kid by Friday," where they'll discover how to change their kids' attitude, behavior and character in only five days! Cost per family is $10. A nursery will be provided for the little ones. To preregister, e-mail Pastor Holly at hwood@journey.org.
• Blessing of the Backpacks, Sunday, August 22, 9:30 a.m.  Kids are encouraged to bring their backpacks to be blessed for the new school year.
• Middle School and Senior High Pool Party at the Peters’, Saturday,                   September 12, 3-5 p.m.
• Confirmation Class, Sunday, September 19, for 8th graders and older. The class will meeting each Sunday through April from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., in the Krause Meeting Room at Union UMC. To register, call Pastor Holly at 618-971-5979 or e-mail Pastor Holly at hwood@journey.org.
