Rev. Dr. Steve Heitkamp, D.Min, LPCRev. Dr. Steve Heitkamp serves as the Preaching Pastor at Journey United Methodist Church, which is sponsored by Union United Methodist Church. Steve’s creativity informs every part of the worship experience at Journey UMC. His powerful, life application messages bring people back desiring to hear more of God’s word.

Dr. Heitkamp, D. Min, Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), American Association of Pastoral Counselors (AAPC) Fellow, serves as a counselor and psychotherapist with Horizon Hope counseling. He works out of the main office in Belleville, Illinois, located at Union United Methodist Church, and a second office at the Clayton United Methodist Church in St. Louis. Steve received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from Asbury College in 1987, and a Master of Divinity from Asbury Theological Seminary in 1991. He received a Doctor of Ministry Degree in Pastoral Counseling and Psychotherapy from Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary in 2002, and completed a three-year residency at Care and Counseling in St. Louis the same year.

Steve has been married to Mindy for 23 years and they have two daughters, Brynn 19 and Shelby 15. They live in Shiloh, Illinois.
